Pain Management & Sports Medicine

Bodywork

Many techniques that work with the soft tissues of the body have been found to be helpful in reducing pain. These techniques originate from various fields and they all involve unique ways of releasing muscular tension and trigger points to reduce pain quickly and effectively. Somatic Re-Education is one example of an amazing soft-tissue modality that realigns the body through positional release.

Naturopathic Manipulative Technique

NMT is a technique similar to the chiropractic technique of joint manipulation. Restoring normal movement in the joints is an important component to reducing chronic pain and improving athletic performance.

Biopuncture & Neural Prolotherapy

The use of biological injections can benefit patients who complain of chronic or acute pain. Often, patients with chronic pain that have tried many treatments but have had no success, find this therapy works for them. This therapy can also improve healing time with sports-related injuries. Biopuncture & Neural Therapy involve injections of various solutions in different patterns on the body, depending on the presenting complaint. These techniques can also benefit those who have had to stop taking conventional medication because of side effects. Biopuncture can also be used to treat allergies, support the immune system and as an adjunct to detox regimens.

Joint Injections with Platelet Rich Plasma

Joint injections using platelet rich plasma therapy effectively treats conditions such as Osteoarthritis, runner's knee, ligament/tendon injuries, and chronic pain. The injections work by stimulating the body's own healing response and repairing the injured tissue. Joints can also be injected with Dextrose, which is called Prolotherapy, to improve joint stabilization.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger points are areas of the muscle that can cause pain to radiate to other areas of the body. Injecting a solution into these points can prompt the body to heal the area and for the trigger point to dissolve. For example, individuals often have trigger points in their upper backs that cause pain to radiate up their neck and even cause headaches. Injecting into the trigger point causes it to dissolve and the result is often that the headaches disappear completely. This therapy is beneficial for both acute and chronic pain.

Infrared Light Therapy

Infrared light therapy is used to treat many conditions by enhancing circulation to the tissues. It is an effective stand-alone therapy and a great adjunct to any other pain therapy you are receiving.

Craniosacral Therapy

This is an incredible pain relief therapy that works through gentle manipulation of the skull and spine bringing harmony to the body's nervous system.

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is an FDA cleared modality that reduces inflammation and ultimately results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions and post-op pain.

Laser therapy treatment is safe, painless and fast. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy treatments are administered in 5 to 10 minutes. Typically patients see results after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy utilizes your body’s own healing powers by stimulating celluar activity.

Despite fast treatment times, laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up 24 hours after treatment.
