Acupuncture is a holistic therapy that can be used to treat everything from elbow pain to endometriosis. He completed his training at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in Portland. He also uses Chinese herbal medicine with his patients and creates customized formulas to treat their specific ailments. He believes that the combination of Acupuncture and herbal medicine can help prevent disease and improve one's quality of living.
Patrick grew up in a small town in Michigan and completed his undergraduate degree in Public Relations and Communications at Central Michigan University. He tried the corporate world for a while and realized it wasn't for him. He wanted to find a vocation that made a difference in others' lives, and which was also fulfilling and stimulating for him. He has always been interested in all things health and fitness, so a job in Natural Medicine seemed like a perfect fit.
While at OCOM, Patrick took part in a research study comparing the efficacy of Chinese herbs and Acupuncture with live birth rates in women undergoing In Vitro Fertilization. Due to lengthy research into the subject, Patrick believes Chinese medicine works effectively at treating infertility. He is also very interested in treating emotional issues, women's health, and the management of chronic pain. Patrick believes combining all forms of holistic therapies brings the best results. He has recently begun researching the power of sound in healing the body. Patrick combines the use of tuning forks and Tibetan singing bowls in his treatments to further promote relaxation and healing.
After his traditional schooling at OCOM, Patrick traveled to Nanjing, China to study herbal medicine at different hospitals throughout the city. Traveling to the true origin of Acupuncture gave Patrick exposure to some of the most advanced research in the field. He spent many hours learning strategies and prescribing techniques from some of the top Chinese Medicine doctors in the world. This program at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine vastly increased his herbal prescription knowledge and confidence for treating his patients.
When he isn't studying Acupuncture and herbal medicine, Patrick loves to travel the world. He has been to many countries and loves to experience other cultures and customs. He is a long time yogi and enjoys attending workshops to further his practice. He uses many of the Ayurvedic and yogic principles with his patients, including diet therapy and breathing exercises. He also loves to go on hikes and spend time with his partner and two Chihuahuas, Tito and Lola.
